How we ranked them
Two measures. How often customers in Dubai ask AI assistants for a recommendation in the sector, judged from the question types we see in audits and in the engines' own suggested prompts. And how unprepared the sector is: the share of businesses whose websites state the facts the engines need. High demand plus low preparation is where AEO pays fastest.
The ranking
1. Healthcare and dental. Patients ask by problem, area, language, insurance and gender of doctor, daily. Most clinic websites have a team page with photos and no facts. Fastest results in the city. Guide series.
2. Real estate. The largest AI search category in Dubai: buyers, tenants, landlords and investors, often from abroad, asking by area, budget, payment plan and language. Agencies hide fees and prices; the first to publish get named. Guide series.
3. Hotels, restaurants and hospitality suppliers. Diners and travellers ask constantly; hotel buyers now shortlist suppliers through AI too. Guide series.
4. Education. Parents ask by curriculum, fees, rating and area; schools ask for suppliers. Regulator data makes answers checkable, which the engines like. Guide series.
5. Automotive and EV. Specific, price-led questions and almost no published answers, especially for EV charging. Guide series.
6. Food manufacturing and agriculture. B2B buyers ask by certification, capacity and logistics; exhibitor lists and certificate registers are cited heavily. Agriculture series, food series.
7. Software and IT services. Business buyers ask with UAE-specific needs (VAT, WPS, Arabic, data residency) that global vendors ignore. Guide series.
8. Retail, gold and jewellery. Shoppers ask by design, price and area; most retailers have image-only sites. Guide series.
9. Apparel and textiles. Global sourcing managers ask by capability, country and certification; strong for manufacturers with a Dubai presence. Guide series.
10. Professional services. Law, accounting, business setup, recruitment. High demand, but crowded with content, so results take longer.
Where AEO matters less, for now
Sectors bought through tenders, government procurement or long personal relationships: heavy industry, large construction contracts, defence. Buyers there use AI assistants for research but rarely for the shortlist. That is changing, but it is not where to start.
The common pattern
In every sector that benefits, the questions already exist and the answers do not. The business that publishes the facts first, in the customer's words, on its own site and on the sources the engines cite, becomes the answer. See all sectors on the Industries page.
