Should you hire a Dubai-based AEO agency or a remote one?

The short answerA Dubai-based AEO agency knows the sources AI engines cite for UAE questions, such as local directories, regulator registers, Gulf media and Arabic content, and can meet you and your team. A remote agency may have better tooling and lower prices but usually does not know those sources exist. For a business whose customers are in the UAE, local source knowledge matters more than tooling. Ask any agency, wherever it is based, to name three UAE sources it has placed a client on, and to show a client's before and after for a UAE question.

Why the question comes up

Search "best AEO agency in Dubai" and several of the agencies listed are based in New York, Montreal or London, with a Dubai page and a free zone address. They are on the lists because they wrote them. That does not make them wrong for you, but it means the lists do not answer the question.

What a Dubai-based agency knows

  • The local sources. AI engines answering UAE questions cite UAE directories, DHA and RERA registers, municipality lists, Gulf business media, exhibitor lists from Dubai trade shows, and Arabic pages. An agency that has never placed a client on those does not know they are the lever.
  • Arabic. Engines answer Arabic questions from Arabic sources. A local agency has native Arabic writers; a remote one usually has machine translation.
  • The regulators. Health, real estate and food advertising rules in the UAE shape what can be published. Local agencies know where the lines are.
  • Presence. Meetings, events, introductions to local media and partners.

What a remote agency may do better

  • Tooling for tracking AI citations at scale, if they have built it.
  • Experience across more markets and categories.
  • Price, sometimes.

The hybrid

Several Dubai agencies, Samura included, run strategy and client work from Dubai with engineering and content production in India. You get local source knowledge and meetings, with a larger bench than a Dubai-only team could afford. Ask where the people doing your work actually sit.

Five questions that settle it

  1. Name three UAE sources you have placed a client on in the last six months.
  2. Show me a client's before and after for a UAE question, with the prompt and the dates.
  3. Who writes the Arabic, and where are they?
  4. Who will I speak to each week, and in which time zone?
  5. What is the price and what renews?

An agency that answers all five specifically is a safe choice wherever it is based. One that answers vaguely is selling screenshots.

Frequently asked

Does a Dubai AEO agency get better results than a remote one?

For UAE customers, usually yes, because AI engines answering UAE questions cite local sources that remote agencies rarely know. Tooling and price can favour remote agencies.

Why are foreign agencies on 'best AEO agency in Dubai' lists?

Because most of those lists are written by the agencies themselves or paid for. Being on a list is not evidence of UAE results.

Does Arabic matter when choosing an AEO agency in Dubai?

Yes if your customers ask in Arabic. Engines answer Arabic questions from Arabic sources, and native Arabic writing outperforms machine translation.

What should I ask an AEO agency before hiring?

Three UAE sources they have placed clients on, a UAE before-and-after with prompts and dates, who writes Arabic, who you speak to weekly, and the price and renewal terms.
