How do parents in the UAE use ChatGPT to choose schools, nurseries and tutoring centres?

Sufia AramBy Sufia Aram, Managing PartnerPublished 29 October 20264 min read
The short answerParents ask AI assistants for schools, nurseries and tutors with details that used to take a week of research: 'British curriculum school in Dubai Hills with fees under AED 60,000 and a Good KHDA rating', 'nursery near JLT with 7am drop-off', 'IGCSE maths tutor in Abu Dhabi, online'. The AI answers from school websites, KHDA and ADEK inspection data, parent review sites, education media and tutoring directories. A provider gets named when its website states curriculum, fees by year, rating, year groups, location, transport, admissions dates and, for tutors, subjects, exam boards and results, matching the regulator's record.

The questions parents type

Education decisions in the UAE are filtered by curriculum, regulator rating, fees and commute. Parents now put all four into one question to an AI assistant, and the answer shortlists three to five providers.

  • "British curriculum schools in Dubai rated Very Good by KHDA with fees under AED 70,000 for Year 4"
  • "IB school in Abu Dhabi with Arabic as a second language and bus from Khalifa City"
  • "Nursery in Dubai Marina, EYFS, accepts 6 months, opens at 7am"
  • "IGCSE and A-level physics tutor Dubai, Cambridge board, small group"
  • "SAT prep centre Dubai with published score improvements"
  • "Indian curriculum school Sharjah CBSE fees and admission dates"

What the engines rely on

Regulator data. KHDA in Dubai and ADEK in Abu Dhabi publish inspection ratings and fees, and the engines read them. A school's website must agree with that record: the same rating, the same fee schedule, the same curriculum wording.

School and nursery websites, specifically: a fees page by year group, a curriculum page, an admissions page with dates and process, a transport page with routes, a page per campus with the area named, and staff pages for leadership.

Parent review platforms and education media, which the engines cite for "what parents say" questions.

For tutoring: tutor profiles with qualifications, subjects, exam boards, modes (in person, online, group), prices, and results with the method stated. Tutoring directories and reviews are cited heavily because few centres publish well.

What a provider should publish

  1. Fees by year group, in a table, with what is included and the payment schedule.
  2. Curriculum and exam boards, stated plainly, including languages and any special programs.
  3. Inspection rating and year, matching the regulator's page, with a link.
  4. Admissions: open year groups, waiting lists, assessment process, key dates.
  5. Location and transport: area, nearest communities, bus routes, drop-off hours.
  6. For nurseries: age range, hours, ratios, curriculum framework, meals, and the regulator's licence.
  7. For tutors: profiles per tutor, subjects and boards, prices, timetable, results with method.
  8. FAQ on each of these, with schema.

Education suppliers at GESS

Schools are also buyers. Edtech vendors, furniture and lab suppliers, uniform and catering companies that exhibit at GESS are asked for by school procurement teams in the same way. A vendor page that names the schools supplied, the products, compliance and support terms is what gets a vendor named when a school asks an AI assistant for options; our guide for school suppliers covers this.

Frequently asked

What do UAE parents ask AI assistants when choosing a school?

Curriculum, regulator rating, fees by year, area and transport in one question: 'British curriculum school in Dubai Hills, Very Good KHDA rating, fees under AED 70,000 for Year 4'.

Which sources do engines use for UAE school recommendations?

KHDA and ADEK inspection data, school websites, parent review platforms and education media, with the school site expected to match the regulator's record.

What should a tutoring centre publish for AI search?

Tutor profiles with qualifications, subjects and exam boards, modes and prices, timetable, and results with the method stated, plus reviews that mention the subject.

Does a school's website need to match KHDA data?

Yes. Engines read the regulator's rating and fees, and a mismatch on the school site reduces the chance of being named.
