How should a UAE clinic handle Google reviews so AI engines trust them?

The short answerAI engines read the words in a clinic's reviews, not just the stars. So a UAE clinic benefits most from steady, recent reviews where patients mention, in their own words, the treatment, the doctor or the area. Ask every happy patient at the right moment, make it one tap, reply to every review without sharing medical details, and never write, buy or filter reviews. Ten honest reviews a month do more than a hundred five-star ratings with no text.

What the engines take from reviews

When a patient asks "which clinic in Dubai Marina is good for knee physiotherapy", the engine looks for clinics whose reviews mention physiotherapy, knees and the Marina. Star ratings help it decide whether a clinic is credible at all. The words decide which questions the clinic is credible for.

That changes how a clinic should think about reviews. The goal is not more stars. It is more patients describing, honestly and in their own words, what they came for and how it went.

How to earn them

  • Ask at the right moment. At the end of a successful treatment course or a follow-up visit, not at reception before the patient has been seen.
  • Make it one tap. A short link or QR code sent by WhatsApp or SMS after the visit. Every extra step loses most people.
  • Suggest what is useful, not what to say. "If you are happy to, mentioning what you came in for helps other patients find us." Never provide wording, and never make it a condition of anything.
  • Ask everyone. Asking only patients you expect to be happy is review gating, which Google prohibits and which makes a profile look curated.
  • Keep it steady. A burst of forty reviews in a week followed by silence looks unnatural to platforms and engines alike. A few every week is better.

How to reply

Reply to every review, positive and negative, within a few days. Replies are read by patients and by the engines, and they show the clinic is active.

Keep replies factual and never confirm or discuss medical details, even if the patient has shared them. "Thank you for visiting us in Al Barsha. We are glad the team could help, and we look forward to seeing you at your next appointment." For a complaint: acknowledge, apologise for the experience, and move it offline with a phone number or email, without arguing the facts in public.

Patient confidentiality obligations in the UAE apply in a review reply exactly as they do anywhere else. When in doubt, say less.

What never to do

  • Write reviews for patients, or have staff or family post them.
  • Offer discounts, gifts or free sessions in exchange for reviews.
  • Buy reviews from any service, however it describes itself.
  • Copy testimonials from the website onto Google under other names.

All four can get reviews removed or a profile suspended, and all four risk breaching health advertising rules. The engines are also increasingly good at spotting clusters of similar, generic reviews and discounting them.

Beyond Google

Reviews on medical directories and booking platforms are also read by the engines. A clinic with consistent ratings and similar themes across Google and two or three directories looks far more credible than one with a perfect Google rating and nothing elsewhere.

Frequently asked

Do AI engines read clinic reviews?

Yes. Star ratings help establish credibility, and review text tells the engine which treatments, doctors and areas a clinic is known for.

Can a clinic ask patients to mention a treatment in their review?

It can mention that doing so helps other patients, if the patient is comfortable. It must not provide wording or offer anything in return.

How should a UAE clinic reply to a negative review?

Acknowledge it, apologise for the experience, avoid discussing any medical details, and invite the patient to continue the conversation privately by phone or email.

Is it acceptable to offer a discount for a Google review?

No. Incentivised reviews breach Google's policies, can lead to profile penalties and may conflict with UAE health advertising rules.
